This exercise is widely used in the Pilates trainings, as it directly
and indirectly stimulates multiple muscle groups, especially your abs.
The use of other muscles is necessary to stabilize the position (lumbar
beams, quadriceps etc.). It is a very advanced exercise and it is not
suitable for people with spinal problems or who don't have adequate
lumbar muscles. The exercise is effective only if performed slowly and
controlled.
