Description

Give dumbbell squats a try to build lower body strength and shape your legs. This compound exercise targets the quadriceps as well as the glutes, hamstrings, calves, and lower back muscles. Compared to the barbell squat, it's safer for beginners and puts less pressure on your back and joints. All you need is a set of dumbbells.

How to do it

  1. 1Stand up straight holding a dumbbell in each hand. Keep your arms at your sides.
  2. 2Bend your hips back and your knees forward to squat down. Your knees should point in the same direction as your feet.
  3. 3Slowly lower your body and hold the contraction at the bottom
  4. 4Squeeze glutes and push back up to the initial position.

⚠️ Common mistakes

  • Rounding your back
