Barbell wrist curls isolate the forearms and help build a stronger grip. This exercise can be done from a standing or sitting position, or by using a flat bench for support. You may also use a dumbbell instead of a bar. Watch your form and keep the rep timing slow. When done the right way, this move improves grip flexibility and strength.
How to do it
- 1Kneel down in front of a flat bench. Grasp a barbell with both hands using a supinated grip.
- 2Allow the bar to roll out of your palms down to your fingers, bending only at the wrists. Squeeze your forearm muscles during the entire range of motion.
- 3Lower the bar back with slow, controlled movements.
⚠️ Common mistakes
- Not using a full range of motion
- Not squeezing the forearms
